JAMESTOWN – Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist announced that a second area SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Class has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 17th, 7:00 p.m. at the Gackle-Streeter Public School, 200 2nd Ave East in Gackle. An earlier class was held in Jamestown in mid-April.

The class will be conducted by the Bismarck National Weather Service office. The approximately two hour class, will focus on recognizing and understanding the different types of severe summer weather such as thunderstorms, down-burst winds, flash floods, hail, and tornadoes. This free class, no registration necessary, is open to any individuals who want to become more familiar with how to identify severe summer weather.

Attending the class does not require an individual to become an official National Weather Service weather spotter. If you’ve previously attended this class, attend again. It’s a great refresher that keeps you aware of the types of severe summer weather events in North Dakota.

This SKYWARN class is offered through a partnership between the National Weather Service and Stutsman, Logan and LaMoure County Emergency Management. For more information, contact your respective Emergency Management office at: Stutsman County – 701-252-9093, Logan County – 701-751-6145, or LaMoure County – 701-883-6096.
