Andersen Appointed to State Water Commission

BISMARCK, ND (Mike Nowatzki) - Gov. Doug Burgum appointed Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen to the State Water Commission Thursday, one of seven appointments to the board.

The nine-member State Water Commission consists of Burgum as chairman, Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring as an ex-officio member, and seven members appointed by the governor, with one member each from the seven major drainage basins in North Dakota.

Andersen, representing the James River basin, as mayor has been involved in a variety of water topics including flood control, stormwater management, drainage and wastewater treatment. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from South Dakota State University. Her term expires June 30, 2019.

Also appointed from this area was Matthew Pedersen of Valley City for the Upper Red River basin, a certified public accountant and city commissioner. He chairs the Valley City Permanent Flood Protection Task Force.
