Clarence and Audrey Sayler

Clarence and Audrey Sayler began producing Sayler’s  Polka Place for a radio station in Mandan, ND back in 1987. In 1989 KSJB became the permanent home of Sayler’s Polka Place. For many years Clarence and Audrey played old time waltzes, polkas and a few two steps, mostly from area bands, while sharing stories of their boys growing up. One of the listeners was even responsible for naming their youngest son, Colton, during a “Name the Baby” contest back in 1995!

Clarence grew up in Lakota, North Dakota playing old time music in the bars and clubs with his dad, Cleaton, at the early age of 13. He met his wife Audrey in college back in 1980 while attending the State School of Science in Wahpeton. Audrey grew up in Underwood, ND where she introduced him to all his relatives at their wedding!

Clarence and Audrey live in Bismarck where they have been since 1983, still producing Sayler’s Polka Place from their home studio every week. Their boys, Austin and Colton, are now grown but used to join them on the program occasionally when they were younger. Clarence still plays old time music with his dad and brother in Sayler’s Starburst Band, as well as several other bands including Marv and the Moonlighters and Stealin’ Country. On many Sunday mornings you can find both Clarence and Audrey singing and playing in a worship team at their church in Bismarck.

"The most rewarding part of producing Sayler’s Polka Place is meeting the people who listen to our show when we are at the dances or polkafests. They talk to us as if they have known us all their lives, which of course they feel like they have, since listening to us over the past 30 years or so!”
