Police Warn of New Convicted High Risk Sex Offender in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are warning residents about a convicted high risk sex offender who is now living in the city.

Gary Lee Amyotte is living at 2605 Circle Drive, community transition house, at the North Dakota State Hospital.  He does not have a vehicle and is on GPS monitoring.

Amyotte is a 54 year old American Indian male who stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 214 pounds.  He has brown eyes and brown hair.

Amyotte was convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition in July 1989 in Rolette County District Court, ND, after waiting for a woman outside of her home, dragging her into the nearby woods and attempting to rape her.  He was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in November 1998 in US Federal Court ND after he encountered an 83 year old woman with developmental disabilities while walking along a dirt road, dragged her into the brush and raped her.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger cautions residents that any attempt to harass, threaten or intimidate Amyotte, his family, landlord or employer, will be turned over for prosecution.  Printed handouts of his demographics are available from the Jamestown Police Department.
