Valley City Man Charged in Marketplace Burglary, Suspected in Jamestown Cases

VALLEY CITY – Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher released a statement in which he thanks Jamestown Police and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their assistance in apprehending a burglary suspect.

Hatcher says 33-year-old James Wayne Denison Jr., of Valley City, was taken into custody on Tuesday on two felony counts.  Denison is accused in an overnight burglary of Marketplace Foods in Valley City in August 2017.   Charging documents say Denison faces felony counts of conspiracy to commit theft and of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Chief Hatcher says his department was contacted by Jamestown Police for assistance in locating a suspect in several crimes in their jurisdiction.  The interviews in that investigation led to Denison being charged in the Marketplace Foods case.

Jamestown Police Sgt. LeRoy Gross says Denison is a suspect in some burglaries in Jamestown and could face additional charges in Stutsman County.
