A vote to approve a new sound system at the Jamestown Civic Center passed during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The Civic Center & Promotion committee unanimously approved a nearly $100,000 quote from Tricorn Audio. The approval comes after the NDHSAA approved extension of state basketball tournaments in Jamestown with the guarantees that improvements would be made to the facility. A city spokesman says the funds for the sound system improvement will come from a dedicated tax fund. Installation is expected in early 2025. Additional improvements to seating, the courts, and signage outside the Civic Center will still need to be approved.
