The Green Bay Packers who are the only publicly traded sports team in the United States, meaning, they do not have an owner and the team is a publicly owned corporation will be saying goodbye to the current acting and longtime CEO and President Mark Murphy after this upcoming NFL Season.

Mark Murphy who has held the position since 2007 is coming to an end of his tenure as the CEO, and President of the Team, due to a team rule of mandatory retirement at the age of 70. Murphy will hang it up, after concluding his what will be 17th year this year as the Boss of  Green Bay after bringing home one Lombardi trophy, and 4 NFL MVPS in his time with the Packers.

But even still being publicly owned, the team still needs a ‘boss.”

The Packers would name the new leader after a board of directors meeting this last weekend, naming Ed Policy to the position which will switch over in the 2025 offseason.

Policy joined the Packers as vice president and general counsel in August 2012 and was promoted to COO in January 2018.

The Packers announced that their board of directors unanimously elected Policy on Monday after a search committee recommended him, making Policy the 11th CEO in Team History.
