The NFL was ordered by a jury of the U.S. District Court to pay more than $4.7 Billion dollars in damages after the league violated antitrust laws in the distribution of out-of-market Sunday afternoon games for its premium subscription service, “NFL Sunday Ticket.”

The jury looked over 2.4 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses that used the package for those out of market games from 2011 to 2022.

$96 Million was awarded to the residential class, and according to federal antitrust laws, the damages could triple leading to the NFL possibly owing $14.39 Billion.

The NFL plans to contest the decision, saying that the claims are baseless and without merit. Post trial motions will be heard July 31st.
