More Ag equipment manufacturers in the US are announcing more layoffs, as companies face a more weakening demand, and farmers being discouraged for such purchases thanks to low commodity prices and operating expenses.
John Deere will be laying off 279 workers in its East Moline, Illinois plant, making its almost one thousand workers losing employment in the last two months. The workers in Illinois last day will be August 30th.
Another major manufacturer AGCO also announced they would be reducing the company’s overall salaried workforce by 6%, not specifying when and what plants may be seeing these types of layoffs.
AGCO officials commented on the recent layoffs saying that the company aims to uphold the affected workers dignity and respect while also continuing with their own processes going forward.
