According to the USDA’s Crop Progress Report as of June 30th, in 18 of the Major Soybean producing states 3% of the soybeans have began the podding process, but 7 states have reported podding at great starting rates.

Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa have all reported podding in their fields.

Arkansas is the current leader in progress with 43% of the plants podding in state, with Mississippi close behind at 33%, and Louisiana at 28%.

North Dakota did not yet have a report of podding in soybean fields.

Podding is known as the critical state in the life of a soybean plant, which determines the number of pods per acre and determines the maximum seeds per acre which is  a main factor in the final yields for soybeans.
