Burgum and Rubio Out, Vance Selected To Be Trump’s 2024 Running Mate

Jul 15, 2024 | 2:53 PM

Multiple sources have confirmed that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Florida Senator Marco Rubio will not be joining former President Donald Trump as his running mate for the 2024 election. This news came just hours before Trump was expected to reveal his vice-presidential pick at the Republican National Convention.

CNN reported that Burgum received the notification while he was waiting at a hotel near the convention center in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, Rubio, who is also in Milwaukee and scheduled to speak at the convention, was informed that he would not be Trump’s choice for vice president.

Both Rubio and Burgum were considered to be among the top three contenders for the position, alongside Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. Vance, a known Trump loyalist, was chosen today as Trump’s final pick as announced on Truth Social. If Trump is elected this November, Vance will be one of the youngest vice presidents in history.
