Inmate Alexis Beryl Phillips Dies in Cass County Jail After Medical Emergency

The inmate who died in custody at Cass County Jail has been identified as 37-year-old Alexis Beryl Phillips of Ogema, Minnesota. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Phillips experienced a medical emergency and was found unresponsive during a wellbeing check just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies immediately began life-saving measures and called for assistance from the Fargo Fire Department and Sanford Ambulance. Despite their efforts, Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phillips had been in custody at Cass County Jail since Friday, July 12, following her arrest for driving with a suspended license, which was connected to an earlier arrest for criminal mischief. The cause of her death remains under investigation.
