For the 16th year, thanks to the North Dakota State University Extension, and the North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers association, are offering North Dakota Youth a chance to be involved in the sheep industry with the Starter Flock Discounted Loan Program.
The chosen persons for the program will receive an interest free loan and the association will then purchase 10 yearling Rambouillet sheep in part by the NDSU Hettinger Research Extension Center. The program also assigns a mentor that will help answer questions and help manage the herd with the selected youth, or one may be chosen.
Dave Pearson of the Hettinger Extension Center said, “It is tremendous to see young people get involved with the North Dakota Sheep Industry.” Also saying the sheep being used are great for learning with less initial input costs and no interest.”
