It was a busy weekend for the Minnesota Twins organization. The team itself returned to actions after the All-Star Game, and all time great Joe Mauer was inducted into the Pro Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Twins went to extra innings on Saturday night returning to the field, it would take 12 innings and not enough pitchers for the Twins to lose the First game of the series, 8-4. The Twins collected 7 hits as a team, Carlos Santana lead the Twins with a homerun in 11th Inning to keep the Twins in the game. And a newcomer to the twins current lineup also contributed, Designated Hitter and Pinch Hitter Diego Castillo stepped in, and collected a hit batting in 2 runs. Starting pitcher Pablo Lopez went 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 run, but after that the Twins would put 6 pitchers in allowing 7 runs, with Stephen Okert getting the loss on the mound. The Twins would fall to 54-43 on the season.

The Twins would fight back but it wasn’t enough and would lose Game 2 of the series Sunday Afternoon 8-7, resulting in a sweep. Minnesota would go up 3-1 early in the game, but after 5 innings Joe Ryan would give up 3 runs, ending his day in 6. The Twins would find themselves down 8-4 entering the Bottom of the 9th, and Byron Buxton would hit a homerun, with Brooks Lee getting an RBI scoring Max Kepler. Unfortunately the comeback would stop there and the Twins would drop to 54-44 on the season.

Minnesota will await Philadelphia who comes into town for a 3 game series Monday through Wednesday.
