A Native American man was killed on the Spirit Lake Reservation in April.  That killing has gone unsolved, but authorities now believe they have the perpetrator in custody.  The Spirit Lake Tribe says that Kolby Jae McKay of Fort Totten is now facing second-degree murder charges after turning himself in last week.   The Tribe had previously issued a bulletin warning the public he was armed and dangerous.  According to records, McKay is also facing a federal indictment for violent assault and domestic abuse for a separate April incident.  Many other details about the murder are unknown at this time, but Tribal representatives and law enforcement say more will come to light as the case works through the court system.  McKay’s trial is scheduled to begin on September 24.
