Team USA Women’s Basketball Gets Opening Win

Team USA women’s basketball begun their journey for gold on Monday afternoon tipping of against Japan in the Paris Olympics.

Team USA would win in dominate fashion defeating Japan 102-76, with it being a Grade A team effort.

All players for Team USA would score points in the game, including Breanna Stewart, and Aj’a Wilson leading the team in scoring with 22 and 24 points each. Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kelsey Plum would also add 11 points each coming off the bench.

The team also produced quite well in offensive and defensive rebounding outdoing Japan 56-27, while also blocking 11 Japan shot attempts, while Japan blocked 0 in return.

Team USA has begun 1-0 in their group play much like their men counterparts, and will continue on from Paris on Thursday against Belgium.
