Jordan Love is a very interesting subject to both NFL Fans, and Packer fans this upcoming season.

Love started off his first year as the full time starter in Green Bay, not looking like his predecessors before him, many wondered if Love had what it takes to lead the Packers back to playoffs, and if the reign of consistent quarterback play in Green Bay was over.

Over the last half of the 2023 season Love emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, while also leading Green Bay to the playoffs and was just a missed field goal from getting Green Bay into the NFC Championship.

Debate sparked between fans and NFL Media, after it was announced in the offseason that Love was looking for a new contract entering his 5th year in the league. With the trend in the market, Love and Green Bay knew a big pay day was imminent. Love would sit out the beginning stages of training camp, waiting to get a new deal done, before he stepped foot on the field.

The Packers would pay, making Love the highest paid quarterback in NFL history, and tying the league lead for the largest amount per year, at $55 million per year.

Love has been skyrocketed into the upper tiers of quarterbacks with his new contract, along with the expectations and hopes that Love can lead Green Bay back to the Superbowl and bring the Lombardi Trophy home yet again like Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, and Bart Starr did.

But much like others that are in his pay grade, many wondered whether or not Love would play in the preseason at the risk of injury or something else unforeseen happening. Those wonders were put to rest when Green Bay head coach Matt Lafleur  announced that Love WILL play in the preseason opener against Cleveland this Saturday, noting that past poor starts from…. other Green Bay quarterbacks that it was time to make a change and get the starter out there for some actual game speed reps. Lafleur said  “I think just going through kind of reevaluating the last couple years from when we’ve had guys not play and last year having them, all the guys play, I thought it was beneficial for us early on, especially Week 1, just to kind of knock some of the rust off.”

Green Bay and Jordan Love will begin their preseason this Saturday when the Packers will host the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field.
