The concert special, CMT Giants: Alabama, aired on Thursday, August 15. The tribute to the country legends featured a series of contemporary stars honoring Alabama’s Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry – who were on hand for the event and performed their hits, “Mountain Music” and “My Home’s in Alabama” – as well as the late Jeff Cook, who passed away in 2022. Music performances from the special included Blake Shelton, Steve Wariner, and Kara Britz covering “Old Flame,” Brad Paisley doing “Old Alabama,” Jamey Johnson playing “Angels Among Us,” Jason Aldean tackling “Love in the First Degree,” Little Big Town doing “The Closer You Get,” Old Dominion playing “Roll On,” Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan covering “Feels So Right,” Riley Green doing “Dixieland Delight” and Sam Hunt performing “Song of the South.” CMT Giants: Alabama also featured guest appearances from Evander Holyfield, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, and Vince Gill, along with a brand-new interview with the members of Alabama.
