NFL Roundup! Mahomes Missing New WR

More Updates to the NFL as the second weekend of Preseason approaches.

-Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback and superstar Patrick Mahomes stated, that he and the Chiefs, miss newly acquired wide receiver Hollywood Brown. Brown signed with the Chiefs this offseason and was looking for a fresh start in an offense that knew how to utilize him and his talents, as well as a quarterback who can get him the ball. Brown suffered a separated shoulder in the Chiefs first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which will keep him out for a while once the season kicks off. Mahomes was quoted saying, “We lose a little bit of that veteran-type receiver in that room. We have other guys that can replace him a little bit, but to have that much talent and have a good understanding of what I want . . . hopefully we’re getting him back sooner rather than later. We’ve just got to keep pushing those young receivers to keep getting better and better every day.” Brown was set to compete for the number 1 receiver job aside from Travis Kelce, with Rashee Rice.

-The Atlanta Falcons have had a busy offseason, bringing in their franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins, and drafting perhaps the future of the franchise as well, with rookie Michael Penix Jr. The Falcons made a pair of moves within the last two days to bolster their defense that already could’ve been a highly productive unit itself. The Falcons would make a trade for star linebacker/edge rusher for the New England Patriots Matthew Judon, after continuous contract talks with his team went south. To match the already great move, the Falcons would also go out and sign free agent safety Justin Simmons formerly of the Denver Broncos. Simmons was a key piece to the Broncos defense since he was drafted in 2016.

-And after reports rang out that Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh offered a coaching job to his former quarterback during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick. Coach Harbaugh would later confirm that no, Kaepernick will not be joining his staff for 2024. After multiple attempts to rejoin the NFL as a player, Kaepernick has now turned down a chance to coach in the NFL after he left the league in 2016. Harbaugh said, “I love Colin, but he’s not going to be on the coaching staff, which is set for this year. And he’s not going to be playing on the roster either.” after a Chargers Training camp practice this week.
