Twins’ Buxton Heading to the IL

The injury bug continues to bite the state of Minnesota this week.

The Minnesota Twins announced they would be placing star outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10 Day injured list with hip inflammation.

Buxton left the Twins’ game against the Royals on Monday with the hip discomfort, and following continuous testing, Buxton will now be added to the list of key Twins contributors to be injured at a pivotal point of the season.

Buxton joins, Brooks Lee, Joe Ryan, Carlos Correa, and Brock Stewart as notable Twins players hurt. This all comes as the Twins currently sit within 4 games of the AL Central lead with Cleveland, while also having to worry about Kansas City sneaking up for second place. The Twins would luckily get some breathing room from the Royals after their 2-1 series win earlier in the week.

The injury is not expected to keep Buxton out long, but the Twins will still be missing some key time from one of their stars against some teams trying to make a playoff push as well, including the defending champs Texas Rangers, the San Diego Padres, and the St Louis Cardinals.
