RON JORDAN, KSJB LOCAL NEWS-

Police in Fargo are investigating a killing at a local church.  Detectives say  say a fight broke out in the parking lot of the Prairie Heights Community Church Saturday morning, and 25-year-old Austin Strom was shot dead during the altercation. Strom was a greeter and a member of the church. Police haven’t named any suspects, and there’s no word on what started the fight.

UPDATE 7:59am 8/20/24:

The mother of the man shot dead early Saturday morning outside the doors of Prairie Heights Community Church said her son 25-year-old Austin Strom likely slept outside the West Fargo church that night because he had found a home in the congregation and with God.  Asked if she thought Austin might have owed someone money and that led to his death, Robin Strom said she said she highly doubted that. Robin also said she didn’t think her son owned a gun or would know how to use one. She said Austin would likely defend himself if somebody tried to do him harm, but he was more interested in helping people than hurting anyone.  West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielsen said investigators are still working to determine the relationship between the three people and why they were at the church early in the morning.
