Vikings Trim Roster to 53

By Ryan King Aug 28, 2024 | 8:41 AM

The Minnesota Vikings finished up their cutting process, from the preseason roster to the 53 man yesterday. The Vikings made some interesting roster moves including cutting a former first round draft pick, and a player who had a great preseason and came up just short of  making a roster spot.

Notable Cuts from the Vikings include:

Former First Round Draft pick safety Lewis Cine, running back Kene Nwangwu , tight end Robert Tonyan, linebacker Dallas Gant, wide receivers Justin Hall, and Lucky Jackson, and defensive lineman Andre Carter II.

The Vikings announced they would also be keeping 3 quarterbacks to start the 2024 season, with the passers we seen the most during the preseason, Sam Darnold, Nick Mullens, and Jaren Hall.

The Vikings also decided to keep just two running backs to start off the season, Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler made the roster despite strong preseason performances from Nwangwu, and Myles Gaskin who was also cut.

The Vikings will kickoff their 2024 season in New York taking on the Giants on September 8th.
