By Ryan King Sep 4, 2024 | 11:21 AM

The USDA’s Crop Progress report from September 3 shows stable corn conditions at 65% good-to-excellent, but soybean conditions declined slightly to 65%. Corn is advancing with 90% in the dough stage and 19% mature, surpassing average development. Soybeans are 94% setting pods and 13% dropping leaves, still better than last year’s conditions.

Spring wheat harvest has reached 70%, aligning with the five-year average and surpassing last year’s pace. Winter wheat planting is at 2%, matching historical norms. Recent weather has brought beneficial rain to some regions but could be too late for others. Cooler and drier conditions are expected, with potential frost in northern areas possibly affecting late-planted crops.
