Vikings Crush Texans; Improve to 3-0

The Minnesota Vikings continued their impressive start to the 2024 season defeating the 2-0 Houston Texans 34-7.

It would be both the Vikings offense and defense showing out in the game holding the Texans to 296 total yards, and just 38 in rushing yards. The Vikings defense would also force 2 turnovers with the Vikings offense never coughing it up in the game.

Sam Darnold would again have a solid outing, while also giving Vikings fans a little scare. Darnold would finish the day 17/28 for 181 yards and 4 touchdowns. Darnold would scare the entire state of Minnesota when he exited the game for a short moment after being dinged up from a hit from former Minnesota Vikings Danielle Hunter. Darnold would return to the game, but will more than likely be on the Vikings injury report this week.

Aaron Jones would be your leading rusher in the game, as well as a contributing receiver. Jones carried the ball 19 times, rushing for a total of 102 yards, while catching 5 balls for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Justin Jefferson led the team in receiving with 6 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. Jalen Nailor also filled in for the injured Jordan Addison catching 3 balls for 31 yards and a touchdown. Tight End Johnny Mundt added 1 catch for a touchdown as well.

Defensively, Andrew Van Ginkel was the leading tackler with 6 total tackles and 1 sack with 6 tackles from Camryn Bynum, and Harrison Smith too. Jonathan Greenard left a great reminder to his former team sacking C.J. Stroud 3 times.

The Vikings Defense showed out again, but this week another test. The Vikings will travel to division rival Green Bay. The Vikings may need to prepare for two quarterbacks, backup Malik Willis has lead the Packers to 2-0 in Jordan Love’s absence, but Love is almost ready to return. Who will start for Green Bay at quarterback? Will the Vikings defense continue this dominant start? Will Sam Darnold continue to steer the ship in Green Bay? We will find out this Sunday.
