ND Voting Changes Petition Falls Short

By Seth Dunlap Sep 30, 2024 | 6:33 AM

RON JORDAN, KSJB LOCAL NEWS-

Proponents of banning voting machines and adding a host of other election-related changes fell short of reaching the number of signatures required to get their idea on the statewide ballot.  This was good news to Allan Peterson of the North Dakota Association for the Blind. People who are blind or sight impaired rely on these tools each election cycle so that they can fill out their ballot independently and privately. The proposed bill would also have banned all vote counting machines, meaning that election workers would have to count and tabulate ballots by hand.
