Surprise $5.8 Million Donation To Jamestown Historical Site

A $5.8 million donation was made to the State Historical Society of North Dakota by the estate of George Spangler.  The donation will go to renovations and preservations of the Stutsman County Courthouse in Jamestown.   The donation is reportedly the largest in the history of the Historical Society.   A spokesperson for the Courthouse said they were overwhelmed by the donation that will help preserve the site for generations for come.  George Spangler, whose birth name was Sebastian, was a farmer and cattle rancher in Jamestown who also ran an antiques business.
