On Monday, officials celebrated the opening of a new program inside the James River Correctional Center that they say will help reduce recidivism. The Akisni Warrior Lodge Program is a culturally-based recidivism reduction program that offers a six- to 12-month therapeutic community that is designed to change core negative beliefs, the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a news release of the event. The structured program is based on the belief that change is possible and it can be done by healing the body, mind, emotions and spirit.
