Cody Johnson Scores Double Nomination For CMA Song Of The Year

By Erik Thompson Oct 8, 2024 | 7:01 PM

Any country artist would be thrilled to have one tune nominated for Song of the Year at the CMA Awards. Cody Johnson will have not one but two of his country hits nominated for Song of the Year at the 2024 CMAs, as CoJo’s “Dirt Cheap” and “The Painter” are both up for the same honor this year. While the award is presented to the songwriters, it is a rare honor for Johnson to have two songs nominated in the same category. “Dirt Cheap” was written by Josh Phillips, while “The Painter” was written by Benjy Davis, Kat Higgins, and Ryan Larkins. “Having two songs that I’ve recorded in the category for ‘Song of the Year’ makes me so happy for them,” Johnson said. “Being nominated for five CMA awards as an artist that has worked his entire life to get to this point is an incredible feeling. I’m so thankful that I never gave up, and I’m so thankful that I get to record and sing country music!” (All Country News)
