The Minnesota’s Attorney General settled with Evergreen Acres Dairy over allegations of $3 million in unpaid wages to immigrant workers. The lawsuit claimed the dairy underreported employee hours and provided substandard housing for it’s workers. The settlement mandates Evergreen Acres Dairy to pay $250,000 in back wages, also being ordered to improve housing, and allow the state to conduct inspections for three years, with penalties being possible for future violations, or if the previous issues have not been addressed.

Filed in January of this year, the lawsuit highlighted poor living conditions and unfair practices, such as withholding final paychecks from its workers. Attorney General of the state of Minnesota Keith Ellison stressed the need to protect agricultural workers and ensure they receive fair treatment, benefiting both the workers and ethical producers in the economy who employ their services.
