A North Dakota man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to abuse and causing the death of an infant. 29-year-old Collin Ray Delorme pleaded guilty on Tuesday of battering a 1-year-old child and causing their death. Court documents show that Delorme was involved in a police call in February of 2023 on the Spirit Lake Reservation after the child was reportedly not breathing. The child was taken to a hospital and later died. Authorities accused Delorme of abuse over multiple weeks leading up to the child’s death, along with failure to seek medical care. He pleaded guilty to three felony charges and faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. Sentencing will be on January 22, 2025.
