The North Dakota Farmers Union says it supports steps the USDA is taking to create fair markets in the beef industry. The NDFU had complained the industry was marred by unjust and anticompetitive pricing strategies. In response, the USDA announced a new rulemaking effort to enhance price discovery and fairness in cattle markets. NDFU President Mark Watne says increased transparency in cattle pricing is essential for cattle markets to be fair and competitive.
