The Minnesota Lynx fell to the New York Liberty in Game 3 of the WNBA finals 80-77 on Wednesday night, bringing the Lynx to a 2-1 deficit in hopes for their fifth WNBA title.
The Lynx would get off to a fast start in the first quarter after completely burning out at the end of Game 2, outscoring the Liberty 28-18 after one quarter. But after that the offense would quiet down again, being outscored in the next 3 quarters. The game ALMOST went to overtime again tied at 77-77, but New York’s Sabrina Ionescu hit a game sealing three, with one second left on the clock.
Napheesa Collier was the leading scorer for the Lynx with 22, and 9 rebounds. Bridget Carleton also added 14 on the night. The Lynx’s bench was not a factor in the game with only 3 players coming off, and totaling 8 points.
Game 4 will be Friday in Minnesota with the season on the line, with the Liberty getting a chance to bring home their first WNBA title in team history. Either way one team will make history with either getting their first, or one team getting the most.
