48-year-old Ina Kenoyer was sentenced to 25 years behind bars on Wednesday. According to court documents, Kenoyer and her boyfriend, Steven Riley, believed Riley would be receiving a $30 million-dollar inheritance in the weeks leading up to his death on September 4, 2023.
Police said Kenoyer was poisoning Riley’s drinks because she thought North Dakota recognized common law marriage, making her the recipient of that money, if Riley died. Investigators say they don’t believe that inheritance was ever real.
