It would go down to the very end, but it was not enough, the Minnesota Lynx would lose Game 5 of the WNBA Finals in New York last night in overtime to the Liberty 67-62.

The Lynx forced Game 5 on Friday sending the series to New York who was hungry for their first title in franchise history, and their hunger proved true.

The teams would trade quarter leads throughout the game, but the Liberty would pull away in overtime to secure the title.

Napheesa Collier led the team in scoring with 22 points, and Kayla McBride would add 21. The two were the only key contributors for the Lynx on offense in Game 5 as all other starters and bench players scored 6 points or less.

Jonquel Jones would be the leading scorer for the Liberty with 17, and Brianna Stewart added 13. Jonquel Jones took home the MVP Trophy for the series as the Liberty delivered their first title in the franchise’s 27 year history.
