The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced over $2.14 billion in payments to agricultural producers and landowners to support conservation and safety-net programs. This assistance includes more than $1.7 billion through the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and over $447 million for the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage (ARC/PLC) programs. These initiatives promote natural resource conservation while providing economic stability for family farms.

CRP payments are directed toward farmers who implement practices that improve soil health and wildlife habitats. The program has enrolled nearly 26 million acres, with states like Colorado and South Dakota leading in acreage.

Additionally, the FSA is investing $21 million to enhance the assessment of CRP’s effectiveness, focusing on benefits like flood mitigation. The ARC and PLC programs provide crucial financial protections for farmers facing price drops, ensuring their economic resilience.
