One person died in an apartment fire early Wednesday morning in Valley City, North Dakota, according to Police Chief Nicholas Horner.
Horner said some people jumped out of their window to escape the fire in a three-story apartment building and firefights with the Valley City Fire Department rescued others. Valley City’s emergency services responded to the fire at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Horner said the one person found dead in the apartment building is being transported to the University of North Dakota for an autopsy.
The North Dakota Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the fire.
