RON JORDAN, KSJB LOCAL NEWS –

The state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says North Dakota’s prison system has reached its “maximum operational capacity” and has implemented a “prioritization plan” that allows them to refuse inmates sentenced to their custody.  Those inmates will now stay in the county jails where they were housed while they awaited sentencing.  Offenders convicted of violent Class AA, A and B felony offenses receive first priority for incarceration.
