With the help of helicopters, 179 horses were brought into the southern unit corrals to complete the wild horse roundup at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Horses were microchipped and 15 were fitted with GPS collars. In the process, a one-year-old female horse who suffered a leg injury was euthanized, causing controversy with some wild horse advocates who blame the park for the injury and subsequent death.
Advocates for the horses are also asking for the GPS collars to be removed.
