The Minnesota Vikings earned themselves back in the win column last night defeating the Indianapolis Colts 21-13 at US Bank Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
It would be a worrisome first half for Vikings fans, as the team did not score any points, and added two turnovers, one of which resulted in a defensive score for the Colts. After pre-snap penalties, the two turnovers and drives resulting in two missed field goals, the Vikings entered the halftime break down, 7-0 and being showered by boo’s of the Vikings fans in the crowd.
Those boo’s might have been the wake up call the Vikings were looking for, in the second half, the Vikings would score all 21 of their points. Highlighted by Jordan Addison with a spectacular catch in the back corner of the endzone, and touchdowns receptions for Josh Oliver, and Jalen Nailor.
Sam Darnold finished the game going 28/34 for 290 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Justin Jefferson also got into the passing category throwing 1 time for 22 yards.
Aaron Jones was the leading rusher for the Vikings, carrying 21 times for 64 yards, Jones also caught 4 passes for 18 yards.
Justin Jefferson shined as per usual, catching 7 balls for 137 yards. Josh Oliver finished second in receiving yards, with 5 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown catch.
The Vikings defense earned their pay last night, holding the recently elevated Joe Flacco to just 179 yards and 1 interception. The Vikings sacked Flacco 3 times, and made a hit on Flacco 7 times.
The Vikings improved to 6-2 on the season, and after the Detroit win over Green Bay, Minnesota finds themselves in second place in the NFC North after dropping down to third place the last two weeks. The Vikings will hit the road the next two weeks making road trips to Jacksonville next week, and then to Tennessee the week after. Can the Vikings gain some momentum as the second half of the season begins, and the push for the playoffs begin to heat up?
