Early voting is more popular than ever in North Dakota. 51% of eligible voters cast their ballots by mail or early vote. The nearly 190,000 who voted before election day marks a new high. Concern raised by Republicans about early voting, including by President-Elect Donald Trump, raised questions around whether it would tamper enthusiasm over early voting. That didn’t seem to be the case, and Secretary of State Michael Howe said in a statement that North Dakota’s elections were safe, secure, and fair and applauded election workers across the state for their service.
