Jamestown Residents Warned About Lead, Galvanized Water Pipes

By Seth Dunlap Nov 7, 2024 | 8:46 AM

The city sent over 4,000 notices to businesses and residents that some service lines are either made of lead, galvanized components, or other unknown materials that could possibly be hazardous.   The notifications are required to be sent annually by law.   While the EPA hasn’t ruled whether the city is out of compliance with federal regulations, the city has indicated that the water lines in question will eventually need to be removed and replaced.   While officials say these materials could seep into drinking water, they also say there is no indication that Jamestown residents are in any danger currently.
