The Minnesota Vikings celebrated their third victory in a row yesterday afternoon, after traveling to Tennessee to take on the Titans, and defeating them 23-13.
The game started off with flashbacks of last weeks 3 turnover game against Jacksonville, when the Vikings first drive resulted in a fumble recovered by the Titans. Tennessee would capitalize on the turnover with a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. But after that, it was all Minnesota.
The Vikings went on to score on their next 3 drives including two touchdowns, one by Jordan Addison, and a sneak up the middle by Sam Darnold. The Vikings also completed a field goal, to make the score 16-3 at half.
Minnesota would coast the rest of the second half, Cam Akers caught a touchdown pass, to make the score 23-13. Tennessee quarterback Will Levis tried to mount a comeback for the Titans late in the 4th quarter but, the Vikings defense would earn their pay with Harrison Smith intercepting Levis to seal the Victory for Minnesota.
Quarterback Sam Darnold finished the game going 20-32 with 246 yards, and 2 touchdowns also adding the rushing score earlier in the game.
Running backs Aaron Jones and Cam Akers each shared the majority of carries, Jones with 15 Carries for 39 yards, and Akers carrying 10 times for 25 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Justin Jefferson as per usual led the team in receiving with 6 catches for 81 yards, and Jordan Addison added 3 catches for 61 yards, and a touchdown.
The Vikings defensive line was a thorn in the side of the Titans offense. Andrew Van Ginkel, and Pat Jones II each recorded 2 sacks, and 3 tackles for loss in the win.
The Vikings improved to 8-2 on the season, trying to keep pace with red hot Detroit who defeated Jacksonville 52-6, while also trying to hold off Green Bay who’s 7-3 coming off a miracle victory over the Chicago Bears.
The Vikings will continue their long road trip away from Minnesota this coming week when they Travel to Chicago to take on the Bears.
