The Jamestown Bluejays pushed the West Fargo Horace Hawks to five sets in the match for seventh place in the NDHSAA’s Class A Volleyball State Tournament. Yet, the Bluejays lost to end their season with an 0-3 record at the FARGODOME’s state tournament on Saturday.
On the other side of the bracket, in Class B, the Medina-Pingree-Buchanan Thunder won two matches to finish in third. The Thunder beat the Central McLean Cougars in the quarterfinals but lost to South-Prairie-Max in the Semifinals. In a surprising sweep that did not include star middle hitter Maddie Gefroh, Medina-Pingree-Buchanan ended its season with a win.
Led by coach Sara Hegerle, Jamestown will still be in search of its second state title in the Hegerle era next year. Medina-Pingree-Buchanan will attempt to build off its first Class B state tournament appearance as it heads into next season.
