PAYTON GALL, KSJB LOCAL NEWS –
The Jamestown Public Works Committee approved the State Transportation Plan on Thursday, allowing Jamestown to receive federal or state allocations of money for the projects. These projects include the West Business Loop reconstruction project, the concrete repair project on Highway 52, the mill and overlay on 4th Avenue East, and a long-distance passenger rail route that would pass through Jamestown. The rail project was awarded a $500,000 grant to restore passenger rail service on Amtrak’s North Coast Hiwatha Chicago to Seattle route. Bids from contracting companies for the projects totaled nearly $6 million dollars.
