The former owner of a Fargo cigar bar has now pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.
51-year-old Barrett Prody, who owned JT Cigarro’s and O’Leary’s Irish Pub, was accused of leading a drug trafficking ring in the upper Midwest, including a cocaine network in North Dakota. Prody was arrested after confidential sources tied him to sales of tens of thousands of dollars of cocaine in the state over multiple years.
Prody has now pleaded guilty to federal charges of intent to distribute a controlled substance, obstruction of justice, and money laundering. He faces 20-years of minimum imprisonment, up to life in prison, and up to $20 million in fines. The U.S. Government is recommending a lower-end sentence due to the guilty plea.
