After Will Reichard returned to the field this last Sunday for the Minnesota Vikings, the team no longer had use for backup kicker John Park Romo.
Parker Romo was asked for his services after Will Reichard was put on the IR after Week 9 with a quad injury, and Parker Romo filled in just fine for the rookie, making 11-12 field goal attempts, and going 7-8 on extra point attempts including a game winning field goal Week 12 against the Bears.
Once Reichard made his return this last week against the Falcons, the Vikings decided to cut lose the backup kicker, and quickly after he was picked up by another team to continue his services.
Parker Romo will be heading to New England after clearing waivers, making him a Patriot. Parker Romo will also have a chance to win a job for the team, as the Patriots still have current Kicker Joey Slye on the roster who is 22-28 on field goal attempts, and 17-18 on extra point attempts.
