Minnesota All-Star point guard Anthony Edwards was in the news after he was fined twenty five thousand dollars by the NBA for using profane language during a media interview last week.
Edwards’ comments came after the Wolves’ 107-90 win over the Golden State Warriors on December 6th. The NBA’s decision to fine him stemmed from Edwards cursing during his interviews, saying in friendlier terms, “I gotta play better.” Edwards then did not speak to media after the Wolves played the Warriors this Sunday and won, not wanting to be fined again.
Throughout the early part of this NBA season the Wolves have not looked like themselves compared to last years hot start. The Wolves currently sit at 12-11, which is 9th best in the Western Conference, and the Wolves have had a number of losses on their schedule against teams they should probably be taking care of on a normal basis. Edwards has also been quoted saying that other teammates might have other agendas in mind rather than being a team, and earning wins.
Can the Wolves get out of this up and down funk and get back into the talk of being an NBA Finals contender? After the departure of Karl Anthony Towns this offseason, it will be up to Edwards, and his new running mate Julius Randle to set the Wolves straight.
