During a recent interview with People ahead of her one-night-only Wildflowers and Wild Horses show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday (December 14), Lainey Wilson reflected on her big year while also singing the praises of other women in country music. “Country’s having its moment, and I’m proud to be a part of the movement,” says the 32-year-old music superstar. Wilson is advocating for more women to be heard in modern country music, and has upstart Mae Estes opening for her in Vegas as a show of support. “There is a shift happening, I will say. I hear more female artists being talked about. I still feel like we’re not completely there,” Wilson says. “But here’s the thing about the girls, when they break through — because it is so hard to break through — they can stand the test of time. The ones that are breaking through right now, they’re going to be around for a long time. It’s good to see the girls coming through.” (People)
