North Dakota man convicted for Conspiracy to Tamper with a witness in connection to Fargo murder case

A 31-year-old has been convicted for Conspiracy to Tamper with a witness in Fargo after his role in a case where a witness was assaulted and stabbed with a pencil in the Cass County Jail.

According to a press release, Shaquiel Mendez is scheduled to be sentenced on April 21 of next year. Mendez’s role in the assault and stabbing related to the investigation into Santino Marial’s murder in August of 2020.

That case also involved 20-year-old Daniel Cisse, 21-year-old Ahmed Hassan and 31-year-old Jesse Burnett. Cisse is serving an 11-year sentence and Hassan will be sentenced on January 21. Burnett’s trial is scheduled for April 1.
