The Morton County Commission approved the formation of a new committee last Thursday. The committee will oversee the development of a new monument honoring the county’s war dead.
After years of weather conditions and snow removal, the existing monument in Morton County has suffered from damage. The new nine-member committee will be tasked with developing the final design, overseeing the construction of the new monument and coming up with a fundraising strategy.
Surveys have been sent out to the public to gather the most popular pick of two different design options. Respondents are also asked for their thoughts on landscaping, lighting and whether the designers should keep the names of those who fell in previous wars.
